Svaneti

About a hundred small churches have survived in Svaneti and it is the only area where churches have frescoes on their exterior facades.

Svaneti is distinguished by its unique tower architecture, which, due to its rarity, has been included in the list of protected monuments of UNESCO. The towers had a purely residential and defensive function.
